Barry Lambert, 52, Milford, was the driver of a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix which struck a 5-year-old Nappanee boy who ran out between parked cars. The accident occurred at 7:42 p.m. tonight on Main Street, south of Third Street in New Paris.

The 5-year-old, Xavier Leeland, Nappanee, did not have any visible injuries, but was transported to IU Health-Goshen for evaluation.

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department report Lambert was traveling north on Main Street, south of Third Street. Leeland ran from 68422 Main Street, attempting to cross the street between two parked vehicles, into the path of Lambert’s vehicle.
