OI720419983_HeadshotBarbara J. “Barb” (Gamsby) Porter, 67, of Syracuse, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at her home. She was born on Nov. 13, 1947 in Wabash to Russell & Edna (Harney) Gamsby Sr.

She attended Wabash High School and was a lifetime Wabash / Kosciusko County resident. In 1970 she was married in Wabash to Carl David Porter Sr. who preceded her in death in 2003. She was formerly employed at Sea nymph Boat Company in Syracuse.

She was a former member of the Olive Branch Church of God & regularly attended the weekly Bible study at Greenhaus Apartments in Syracuse.

She is survived by daughters Melissa (Bert Mickem) Staton, Syracuse, Angela Brubaker, North Manchester, and Corinna Gaff, Kissimmee, Fla. Two sons: Carl “David” (Tosha Maran) Porter Jr., Syracuse, and Gary (Tammy Hill) Hapner II, Syracuse. 16 grand and 13 great grandchildren. Two brothers: Russell (Marilyn) Gamsby Jr., Silver Lake, and Robert (Sally) Gamsby, Wabash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Mary Ann Moore & Edna Mae Marcum, and brother Ralph Gamsby Jr.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. No funeral services are planned.

Memorial bequest may be given to Barbara Porter Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
