Conan O’Brien spent the weekend of Feb. 12-15 filming in Cuba for his TBS late night show, making him the first American late night host to film in the country since the US embargo began in 1962. The episode is scheduled to air March 4.
O’Brien’s show representatives have stated the episode will give the audience a rare glimpse into daily life in Cuba. The show is well known for its road trips, having filmed in Ireland, Finland, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta previously.
In December, President Obama announced loosened trade and travel restrictions on Cuba and several news networks have since sent anchors to the country. The move is part of a push to normalize relations after a half century of isolation and sanctions against the communist country.
