Cumberland Dialed In For Wildcats

Whitko Sports LogoSOUTH WHITLEY – Brianna Cumberland was dialed in from long distance Tuesday night.

The Whitko standout had a record-setting performance from 3-point land as the host Wildcats topped Fort Wayne North 61-43.

Cumberland drained six treys, a new school record. The performance surpassed the old school standard of five 3-pointers in a game.

Cumberland tossed in 31 points in the win.

Whitko trailed 14-13 after the first quarter before taking command with a big second stanza. The Wildcats outscored North 22-8 in the pivotal frame to lead 35-22 at halftime.

Aly Reiff scored 20 points as the Wildcats won for the fifth time in their last six games.

Alyssa Sylvester led North with 21 points.

Whitko improves to 13-8 on the season, while North falls to 1-19.

Whitko plays at Adams Central Wednesday night in its regular-season finale. The Wildcats will then face West Noble on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Class 3-A Wawasee Sectional.

North plays at Fort Wayne Dwenger Friday night.
