Lightfoot To Coach 1,000th Game
MISHAWAKA – Duke University head men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski recently became the first men’s coach in NCAA DI history to reach the 1,000-win plateau.
It’s one thing to win that many games, but to say you’ve coached in 1,000 collegiate competitions is special as well.
That will be the case tonight for Bethel College men’s basketball coach Mike Lightfoot. In his 28th season at the helm Lightfoot has won 73.3 percent of the games he’s coached in with a record of 733-266.
That impressive winning percentage will be put to the test tonight as the No. 7 ranked Pilots (21-3) host No. 13 University of Saint Francis (18-6). The Cougars (8-4) currently stand in third place in the Crossroads League just one game behind Bethel (9-3) for second.
Bethel will also be going for win No. 200 inside the Wiekamp Athletic Center. The first win came on January 10, 1998 against none other than Saint Francis.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
