
WARSAW – Running and milk.
The two go hand-in-hand right?
They did on Friday for the Warsaw Distance Club in its first annual Milk Mile Championships held at WCHS.
A total of 31 runners took part in the event, which had runners drink 12 ounces of mile before each lap around the track for a total of 48 ounces. The runners were charged one additional penalty lap if they vomited during the race.
Junior Michael Blue edged out Nathan Miller to take top honors in the boys’ race. Blue won in 8:17 with Miller second in 8:18.
The top five in the boys’ event had Trent Shepherd in third place in 9:44 with Daniel Messenger fourth in 11:42 and Trent Thompson fifth in 11:44.
Sophomore Allison Miller won the girls’ race in a time of 8:44. Mallory Hooks was right behind in second in 8:46. Rounding out the top five were Sierra Palmer (9:32), Lauren Orr (10:52) and Claire Kehler (11:49).
Also taking part in the event were Caleb Remocaldo, Justin Fleming, Owen Glogovsky, Eric Cusick, Jared Gudeman, Jonathan Beres, Hannah Dawson, Brooke Rhodes, Charlene Orr, Anna Craig, Mia Beckham, Amanda Hermann, Lex Desenberg, Alyssa Campbell, Courtney Sainer, Bekah Schue, Taylor Mills and Jemina Fugate.
