Taylor Honored By Crossroads League
Akyah Taylor, a former standout at Elkhart Memorial High School, has been honored as the Crossroads League women’s basketball player of the week.
Taylor, a 5-11 junior forward at Saint Francis, averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the week of Jan. 12-17.
Taylor, who began her career at Michigan State University, leads the Crossroads League in scoring (21.6), rebounding (9.2) and field goal percentage (.556). Saint Francis is ranked No. 7 and is 15-5 on the season.
Taylor is Memorial’s all-time leading scorer for girls with 1,719 points. She helped the Crimson Chargers of coach Larry Fielstra go 89-14 during her prep career with four Class 4-A sectional championships and three Northern Lakes Conference titles. Taylor was also an Indiana All-Star.
