ROCHESTER – The Whitko girls basketball team gave Rochester all it wanted Saturday night.

It wasn’t quite enough for the Wildcats to pull the Three Rivers Conference upset though.

The host Zebras held on to defeat Whitko 50-47 in a key league clash.

Whitko trailed 40-30 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the hosts 17-10 in the final period.

Rochester led 14-9 after the first quarter and 25-20 at halftime.

Aly Reiff popped in a game-high 19 points to lead the way for Whitko.

Reghan Craig and Brianna Cumberland each scored seven points for the Wildcats. Jennifer Reiff and Hanna Yohe each had six points.

Keeton Stesiak led Rochester with 17 points.

Whitko drops to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the TRC. Rochester improves to 15-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Whitko hosts Norwell Thursday. Rochester plays at Bremen Tuesday.
