Reimer Reportedly Leaving Irish
SOUTH BEND – Taya Reimer, according to multiple media reports, has played her last basketball game for the University of Notre Dame.
Reimer did not travel with the women’s basketball team to Miami Thursday night for “personal reasons” according to a Notre Dame spokesperson. The No. 4 Irish lost 78-63 to snap their 30game road winning streak.
Reimer, a 6-3 sophomore forward, had started the first 15 games this season for the Irish. She was averaging 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Reimer is a former standout at Hamilton Southeastern High School near Indianapolis. She was the runner-up for Miss Basketball honors in Indiana in 2013 and a McDonald’s All-American.
Reimer appeared in all 38 games last season as a freshman. She made six starts, including in the national championship game versus UConn. Reimer averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in a productive freshman season.
Notre Dame, now 14-2 on the season, returns to action by hosting Boston College Sunday afternoon.
