Whitko Sports LogoSOUTH WHITLEY – In a matchup of potential sectional opponents, Whitko used a big fourth quarter to get past Fairfield, 39-30, Tuesday night in girls hoops.

Fairfield led the game 20-14 heading into halftime, but Whitko battled back to tie the game at 24 opening the fourth quarter. A 15-6 run by the Lady Wildcats to close the game was the difference.

Aly Reiff paced Whitko and all scorers with 11 points, with teammate Brianna Cumberland at nine points and Hanna Yohe at eight points.

Fairfield’s Alexis Thaxton paced the visitors with nine points while Alexis Zook and Andrea Hagar wound up with six points apiece.

Up next for both clubs are big conference matchups. Whitko (8-5) will head to Rochester Saturday to meet the 14-1 Zebras in Three Rivers Conference play while Fairfield (8-4) will travel to Eastside (8-5) Friday night for a Northeast Corner Conference tussle.
