Edith WalkerEdith Fay Walker, 93, of South Whitley, died at 9:54 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, in the emergency room of Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

She was born Dec. 9, 1921, in Whitley County, a daughter of Archie and Maggie (Egolf) Coverstone. Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township and she completed her education at Columbia City High School. On Nov. 9, 1940, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Walker.

They made their home in Columbia City until 1957 when they moved to South Whitley. Mr. Walker died Aug. 28, 2008.

Fay worked at Chamberlin Products for 25 years and was a member of Collamer Church of God where she taught Sunday School for 30 years.

Surviving relatives include three children, Shelby Stump of South Whitley, Carol (Bill) Harter of South Whitley and Terry (Anne) Walker of Larwill; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons; a brother: Dale Coverstone; and a sister: Geraldine Coverstone.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial will take place in South Whitley Cemetery.
