WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian girls basketball team had a decent day in the opening rounds of its annual Lakeland Christian Classic.

The Lady Cougars dropped their first game to Granger Christian 51-39 but rebounded with a win over South Bend Trinity 60-24.

Melissa Goss led the way in the first game for 10 points and six rebounds. But it was Rachel Sand and Hannah Delp that carried the team to a win over Trinity.

Sand scored 19 points while Delp was close behind with 16 of her own to help get LCA its fourth win of the season.

LCA (4-8) will host Covenant Christian (DeMotte) at 4:00 p.m. Saturday for its final game of the classic.
