Trojans Light It Up In NSC Win
BOURBON – The home hardwood was very kind to the Triton boys basketball team Friday night.
The host Trojans tickled the twine in fine form all game long to top New Prairie 54-36 in the Northern State Conference opener for both teams.
Triton improves to 4-3 overall on the season. The Cougars were playing just their third game of the season due to the success of their state finalist football team and drop to 1-2.
The Trojans led just 9-5 after the opening period before using a 20-7 scoring spree in the second stanza to take command at 29-12 at intermission.
Triton shot a blistering 12-19 from the field in the opening half. New Prairie was just 5-20 in the first two quarters.
Skyler Reichert tossed in a game-high 19 points to lead the way for Triton.
Masen Yeo had 12 points and Joey Corder 10 for the Trojans. Austin Sellers had 10 rebounds.
Triton shot 23-38 overall from the field for the game, including 5-11 on 3-point tries.
Jasen Webb led New Prairie with 17 points.
New Prairie won the junior varsity game 27-24. Zac Pitney had 12 points and Nathan Felnar six to lead Triton.
Triton is off until hosting Warsaw on Jan. 2. New Prairie hosts Wheeler Dec. 30.
