Dr. Richard Anderson was commissioned 30 years ago by Grace College and the Warsaw Ministerial Association to start a community choir and perform the classical and sacred Handel’s “Messiah” which is well known all over the world.

Once the choir was established the performance of “Messiah” was an annual event that was anticipated by the community and many local singers and musicians.

After the death of Anderson, the choir was reorganized and incorporated as Classic Arts Program. The new director was Alin Cass and he brought new excitement to the choir by performing a variety of pieces throughout the year.

“Messiah” has not been attempted until now, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Classic Arts Programs, Handel’s “Messiah” will again be performed on Saturday, March. 21, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw.

Rehersals begin from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Warsaw.

Soloists include Tammie Huntington, soprano, Lisa Dawson, mezzo, Keith Brautigam, tenor and Conor Angell, bass. All will be directed by current conductor, Ardis Faber.
