Irish To Go Bowling Versus LSU
The Notre Dame football team will not have too far to travel for its bowl destination.
The struggling Irish, who lost their final four games of the regular season, will play LSU in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 30. The game will kickoff at 3 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.
Notre Dame finished at 7-5 after starting its season 6-0. The Irish lost their final four games to Arizona State, Northwestern, Louisville and USC. Notre Dame was blown out at USC 49-14 in their regular-season finale Nov. 29. Notre Dame also lost at Florida State, which was one of the four teams selected Sunday for the first-ever college football playoff.
LSU, from the powerful SEC, stands at 8-4. The Tigers, coached by Les Miles and ranked No. 22 in the AP poll, lost to Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and Mississippi State, all SEC opponents.
Notre Dame is 5-5 all-time versus LSU. The Tigers thumped the Irish 41-14 in their last meeting in the Sugar Bowl in 2007.
The Irish will be making a fifth straight bowl appearance under coach Brian Kelly. Notre Dame has never played in the Music City Bowl.
