TENNIS GETS BY WHITKO
Wawasee (3-10) concluded its tennis regular season with a win over Whitko, 4-1, Tuesday afternoon at Wawasee.

Wawasee one and two singles combo of Morgan Geer and Katy Ashpole had little trouble beating Abby Marshall and Aressa Tackwell. Geer won three and three while Ashpole took home a one and two victory. The one doubles duo of Karla Allen and Mia Hauser won 6-1, 6-2 over Candice Swick and Whitney Hobbs while Samantha Prins and Laura Romar had similar success, 6-2, 6-1, against Bailey Baugher and Erin Murphey.

Whitko’s one win came at three singles with Erin Murphy, no relation to the two doubles teammate, using a 6-1, 6-1 score to get past Emily Seidner.

Chelsea Carolus and Jada Antonides each beat Elizabeth Shephard in JV singles play.

Wawasee will take on Warsaw Wednesday evening in the first round of the Warsaw Sectional while Whitko will battle Columbia City Thursday, also at Warsaw. Tippecanoe Valley will play either Wawasee or Warsaw in the other Warsaw semi-final.

GOLFERS DROP PAIR OF NLC CHANCES
Wawasee showed uncharacteristic erratic play at South Shore, its home course, Tuesday night in a double loss to NorthWood and Elkhart Memorial. The Panthers continued its hot play with a 154, while Memorial carded a 163 to Wawasee’s 168.

NorthWood’s Dylan Gessinger shot a two-under 34 to medal the field while Payton Grubbs added a 36 for the Panthers. Robert Sorg led the Chargers with a 39 while Derek Zurcher headed up Wawasee’s scores with a 40. Tristen Atwood and Luke Jackson each had 42s and Dylan Cousins a 44 to conclude Wawasee’s scoring.

The Wawasee JV notched a 170 to best Memorial by one and NorthWood by five. Cole Love and Mason Germonprez each fired 41s to pace the Warriors.

“This is a very disappointing performance in that we failed to play our home course without making the big numbers that have plagued us all year,” said Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone. “Four of our top five players had scores of triple bogey or worse on a course that we know well.”

C-TEAM CRUISES OVER LAKELAND
Wawasee’s ‘C’ baseball team mashed out 15 hits and put 15 runs on the board to crush Lakeland, 15-2, in five innings Tuesday night in Syracuse. Todd Hauser had three hits and two RBIs while six Warriors had a pair of hits. Nic Wilson and Will McCarthy each had four runs driven in for the Warriors, which moved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
