Milford Public Library activities for the week include:
After School Is Cool
Come this week to After School is Cool on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for a fall activity that you can eat. Join Miss Malea as you build structures using pretzel sticks and marshmallows. We will make buildings and then make the blue prints to our pretzel stick and marshmallow creations.
After making your building, enjoy a fall snack. Invite your friends and challenge them to create a pretzel stick and marshmallow masterpiece. Remember that each After School is Cool you attend earns you 10 points. When you have 40 points, you can choose a paperback book to add to your home library.
Fall Storytime
How do you and your family celebrate Thanksgiving Day? Our final fall story time will be a celebration of Thanksgiving with stories and a feast. Bring your friends and family at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 or at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 and celebrate the holiday with us. Miss Malea will read “One is a Feast for a Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale” by Judy Cox, “10 Turkeys in the Road” by Brenda Reeves Sturgis, and “Thanks for Thanksgiving” by Julie Markes.
After Miss Malea reads, enjoy a Thanksgiving finger play about turkeys and a turkey craft. When we are done with our craft, we shall feast on all of our snacks. Feel free to bring a small snack, such as crackers or grapes, to contribute to our Thanksgiving feast! Bring your friends to story time for some Thanksgiving fun! All children ages 3-6 are invited to join us for storytime. Call the library at 658-4312 if you have any questions.
Afternoon Knitting Club
Knitting Club is meeting from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 in the teen area of the library. Bring a knitting project and get help from experienced knitters.
Even if you’ve never picked up a pair of knitting needles before, you’ll find plenty of help to get you started. The knitting club meets on the first and third Friday of every month. Come and make a homemade gift for someone in your family as we approach the holiday season.
Nutrition Program
The holidays are approaching and so are the temptations to eat unhealthy holiday desserts. Join us from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 in the meeting room for recipes and tips on how to make healthy holiday desserts.
Stephanie Faroh, Purdue Extension Educator will be presenting the program and providing sample recipes and nutritional information to take home. Enter a drawing for door prizes when you come.
The sign-up sheet will be available beginning Nov. 17 at the adult circulation desk. Hope to see you there!
