Sarah Hartle’s run of tennis perfection in the Northern Lakes Conference continued Thursday during the second round of the league tournament.
The Warsaw senior ace posted yet another straight set win at No. 1 singles for the Tigers in action at Concord High School.
Hartle, who has never lost in NLC play during her brilliant prep career, posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Ali Peters of Goshen. She will play Sarah Smith of Northridge for her fourth NLC Tourney title Friday.
Jacqueline Sasso will also compete for a league tourney title for the Tigers. The sophomore outlasted Taelor Gross of Elkhart Memorial 5-7, 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 on Thursday. Sasso faces Courtney Clark of Northridge in the finale at No. 3 singles.
Northridge put itself in prime position Thursday to take home the team championship. The Raiders advanced all three singles players and both of its doubles teams into championship matches.
Northridge, Warsaw and Concord all went 6-1 in NLC play to share the regular season league title.
At No. 2 singles Thursday, Emily Hoffman of NorthWood beat Warsaw sophomore Sarah Boyle 6-0, 6-2. The Plymouth pair of Marissa German and Andrea Shook rallied for a 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over the Tiger team of juniors Olivia Wallin and Lindsay Sciarra. At No. 2 doubles, Andrea Yeater and Brittany Graber of Goshen topped sophomores Rachel Alexander and Mallory Bartel of Warsaw 6-4, 6-1.
Wawasee dropped all five of its matches in play Thursday. Morgan Greer (No. 1), Katy Ashpole (2) and Sam Klinge (3) each lost in straight sets in singles action. The doubles teams of Karla Allen and Mia Hauser at No. 1 and Sam Prins and Laura Gomez at No. 2 also suffered straight set setbacks for the Warriors.
The final round of the tourney begins Friday at 5 p.m. at Concord. The championship titles at all five positions are slated to be the final matches contested on the evening.
