Approving a new driveway for the Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster was among the agenda items considered by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular monthly meeting Wednesday in the Justice Building, Warsaw. The meeting was held a day later due to the primary election.

Northern Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church petitioned the BZA to construct a new main entrance drive for the Epworth Forest Conference Center off Epworth Forest Road. This would now be used for the entrance into the facility instead of the current entrance off Wesley Lane. The property is just south of Sumac Lane in Tippecanoe Township.

Matt Sandy, assistant planning director for the county, said a nearby homeowner did remonstrate but seemed to be more interested in the church buying his house rather than objecting to the petition. The BZA, Sandy noted, decided not to get involved in any negotiations to purchase the house.

Also in North Webster, the BZA gave two year approval for an exception to allow a training course for dogs on property zoned commercial on Epworth Forest Road at the intersection with SR 13. Brian Gagye was the petitioner and Sandy noted Gagye specializes in training police dogs.
