CULVER – It was there for the taking, Triton just had to go get it.
After surviving a tough semi-final match against South Central, the Triton Lady Trojans stuck it to Oregon-Davis to win the Culver Volleyball Sectional championship Saturday night. Triton won the match 3-0 by a full count of 25-22, 25-17, 25-21.

Triton, which had beaten Oregon-Davis in three straight in the first contest of the season, used a yeoman’s effort from its usual full compliment of characters to capture its sixth sectional championship, and the first since 2002.
Becca Kennedy used a huge second game, hammering home four kills, to cap her night with eight to lead the Lady Trojans. Jaela Meister had seven kills and seven digs while Lauren Hostrawser mashed six kills and covered the net with three blocks. Nicole Sechrist added five kills.
Krystal Sellers did the dirty work, sending up 18 assists and added three aces along with good overall defensive work. Quinn Downing continued her strong defensive play with 15 digs to pace Triton.
The Lady Trojans move to 15-13 on the season and will move to the one-game regional round. Awaiting Triton’s arrival Tuesday night will be Fort Wayne Blackhawk (23-8), which won its own sectional with a 3-0 win against Bethany Christian in its final.
