For the first time in the Cory Schutz era at Wawasee, the program put a clean sweep on Elkhart Memorial.
The varsity scored three runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 7-5 win Friday night in Elkhart to sweep the Lady Chargers this season.
Madi Anderson delivered her second home run of the year and drove in two runs for Wawasee. Paige Hlutke was three-for-four with an RBI as part of a 12-hit attack for the Lady Warriors (11-11, 5-4 NLC).
Memorial (6-13, 4-5 NLC) had 11 hits off Wawasee ace Gabi Routson, but we unable to piece together the big inning. Elkhart scored four of its five runs in the final three innings, but left eight runners on base. Christy Hill had three hits and drove in a run.
Rouston struck out eight and walked just two for the win while Ali Iavagnilio struck out four in the circle for Memorial.
The JV from Wawasee (11-3) also swept Memorial this season, winning 10-6 in the first game of the night at Memorial. Ashlynn Fisher hit her first-career homer among her three hits while Aly Anderson added three hits and three runs scored.
