Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce met May 2 at The Papers’ main office, 206 S. Main Street, Milford, where after the meeting board members were given a tour.

Chad Jonsson reported on Syracuse SummerFest’s progress. The event will start at 8:30 a.m. July 7 with a fun run hosted by Lakeland Youth Center. A parade commemorating Syracuse’s 175th anniversary will follow at 10 a.m.

In new business, Cotton announced she would like to attend the Indiana Chamber Executive Association’s conference, Aug. 22-24. It is also her goal to attend the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute. She went over the cost of both items and noted she could apply for scholarships for both. This will be further discussed at a later meeting.

Next meeting will be at 9 a.m. June 5 at the chamber’s office at 110 1/2 E. Main St., Syracuse.
