WARSAW – Brooklyn Jackson led the way as the Warsaw girls soccer team collected an impressive win Saturday.

Jackson tallied a pair of goals as the host Tigers topped Argos 2-1 in non-conference action at WCHS.

Jackson gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the opening half on a score. Sydney Wiedeman assisted on the goal.

The second half saw the Dragons, ranked No. 5 in Class 1-A, tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Kaitlyn Williams.

Warsaw collected the win on a goal by Jackson, assisted by Elizabeth Van Wormer.

“The girls demonstrated a good ability to battle through adversity,” said Warsaw coach Petet Lucht. “It would have been easier to fold, but our girls rose through the challenges and maintained a positive outlook as they were seeking a win. I am proud of each of them. Congratulations to Brooklyn Jackson in scoring twice, and Sydney Wiedeman and Elizabeth Van Wormer for their assists. I also want to highlight Brenna Shipley for her tireless work ethic and ball winning in the midfield.”

The Warsaw varsity squad improves to 3-1 overall on the season. The Tigers are 1-1 in conference play.

Warsaw remained undefeated in junior varsity action Saturday with a 4-0 win over Argos. Scoring for the JV Tigers were Jubilee Stichter, Greer Smith, Tsige Berelsman and Katiana Rodriguez. Jessica Keyes had two assists for Warsaw, now 4-0 on the season.

Warsaw plays at Elkhart Memorial Tuesday and at Concord Thursday in conference matches.
