Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is planning a host of events geared toward kids this summer. Here is a listing of those events:

Swim Lessons
Two sessions of free swim lessons will be held this summer, June 18-29 and July 16-27.  Each session runs Monday-Friday, and parents may choose a session time of 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4 p.m., or 5 p.m.  Children must be comfortable being in the water without a parent.  Sessions times are limited to 10 participants each. Little Picasso’s Art Camp
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will offer Little Picasso’s Art Camp on Tuesdays from June 12 to July 31.  The class for children ages 6 years to 8 years old will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the class for children ages 9 years to 12 years will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.  All classes are held at the Pete Thorn Center, 800 N. Park Ave.

The art medium for week one will be drawing and watercolor.  Other media throughout the summer will include ceramic design, paper maché, metal relief, and canvas painting.  The cost is $10 per week or $70 for all 8 weeks if paid in advance.  For more information, call (574) 372-9554 or email parksevents@warsaw.in.gov.

Free Kids Corner Program
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department invites children ages 3 years to 7 years old and their parents to the weekly free Kids Corner program.  The program will begin Wednesday, June 6, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pete Thorn Center and will continue each Wednesday throughout the summer.  The first week’s theme will be Mad Science! Junior Golf Tour Courses
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will host a Junior Golf Tour on Thursdays, June 21-July 12, at local courses.  This year’s courses will be:  June 21 – Raccoon Run Golf Course; June 28 – Rozella Ford Golf Club; July 5 – Stonehenge Golf Club; July 12 – Little Bighorn Golf Course. Teens ages 10 years to 16 years old may participate, and prizes will be awarded for different skill levels and overall points earned during the tour.  The cost is $10 per week or $35 for all four weeks when paid in advance.  For more information, call (574) 372-9554 or email parksevents@warsaw.in.gov.

Canoeing
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will offer a free opportunity for the community to use canoes on Center Lake from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This is the first of several dates planned throughout the summer.  Canoes will be launched from the East side of the swimming pier at Center Lake Beach and may be used in timed increments.  A waiver will be required for each participant, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Children interested in learning how to canoe can sign up for canoe clinics on Monday, June 11, at Lucerne Park.  Session times are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  The cost is $5 per child, and the basics of canoeing safety, paddling, steering, and teamwork will be learned.
