A Saturday night fire in a wooded area near Leesburg is being blamed on a bonfire.
Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department Chief Mitch Rader said the fire at CRs 100E and 450N escalated as a bonfire that made its way up into the trees.
Several firemen arrived quickly to the scene and were able to contain the blaze. The affected area was approximately a 100-square-foot.
Rader warned that due to the temperatures and lack of rain area fire departments are discouraging burning this holiday season.
