The following activities will be taking place in Kosciusko County for Memorial Day weekend:

Leesburg
There will be a Memorial Day parade and service, with the parade starting at 10:30 a.m. Participants should be in place by 10:15 a.m. The parade will start on Van Buren Street and travel to Leesburg Cemetery where the service will take place at 11 a.m.

Syracuse
Activities will be hosted jointly by American Legion Post No. 223 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1342, with a parade beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Medusa Street and continuing to the bridge, where a wreath will be thrown in the river in honor of fallen sailors. There will be a 21-gun salute and
“Taps” will be played. The parade will continue to Syracuse Cemetery where there will be a service
and the names of soldiers killed in the last year will be read. There will be a guest speaker and another 21-gun salute and “Taps” will be played.

Etna Green
A community worship service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 27, at Etna Green United Methodist Church, followed by a service honoring veterans at 11:45 a.m. at Etna Green Cemetery.

North Webster
Services will be held at 9 a.m. at Thorn Cemetery, 9:30 a.m. at Salem Cemetery, 10 a.m. at Mock Cemetery, 10:30 a.m. at American Legion Post No. 253 and 11 a.m. at North Webster Cemetery. Rev. Gary Colby will be the guest speaker at the cemetery. The parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the downtown stoplight.

Mentone
There will be service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27 at the Mentone Cemetery.

Claypool
A service will take place starting at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 27, at Graceland Cemetery. There will be an honor guard from American Legion Post No. 49 in Warsaw.

Silver Lake
Silver Lake Lions Club is sponsoring a veterans ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Lakeview Cemetery.

Pierceton
There will be no parade this year in consideration to the increased or even doubled traffic due to the detour of SR 15 through Pierceton. There will be a ceremony at Brower Park at 11 a.m. A carry-in dinner will take place at American Legion Post No. 258 at 12:30 p.m. New officers will be installed in a ceremony beginning at 2 p.m.

Milford
The parade in Milford will begin at 10 a.m. with line-up beginning at 9 a.m. The parade will stop briefly at the war memorial and then continue on to Milford Cemetery. After the parade there will be a service at approximately 11 a.m. at the cemetery.

Warsaw
Memorial Day services will take place starting at 10:30 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. The Warsaw High School Band will perform patriotic music. American Legion Post No. 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1126 combined honor guard will march to the amphitheater and post the colors at 10:55 a.m. The commander and the auxiliary president will place wreathes on Legion Circles one, two and three and there will be a 21-gun salute. The guest speaker for the service will be Richard Maron.

Immediately after the ceremony, everyone is invited to American Legion Post No. 49 for the annual indoor picnic. It will be a carry-in dinner, with the Legion supplying hamburgers, hot dogs and smoked sausage. Entertainment will be provided by Mel Mullins.
