logo2AKRON – Rune Kirby spoiled the season and home opener for the Tippecanoe Valley football team Friday night.

The Culver Academies running back tallied three touchdown runs to lead the Eagles to a 36-13 win over the Vikings.

Kirby scored on runs of seven, 10 and three yards as the Eagles racked up 351 yards of total offense.

The Vikings, who lost 36-29 at CMA last season, trailed 6-0 after the opening period. The hosts took a 7-6 lead in he second quarter on a four-yard touchdown run by Aaron Hoffman.

The Eagles, coming off a 5-5 season just like Valley, then scored the next 22 points of the contest to take control.

Jesse Brownfield tossed a pair of touchdown passes for the Eagles.

Valley also got a two-yard touchdown run from Nick Feldman in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings play at Bremen and Culver Academies hosts Indianapolis Marshall next Friday night.
