Softball Team Drops Two

The Grace College softball team lost twice to Calumet College Saturday in Winona Lake. The guests won 7-2 in extra innings in game one and then 5-2 in the nightcap.

Alison Butler had a hit in the opener and an RBI triple in game two for Grace. Olivia Winger had an RBI in game two.

Grace plays an MCC twin bill at Bethel College Tuesday.

Lancer Baseball Squad Loses Pair

Indiana Wesleyan handed host Grace two losses in MCC baseball action Saturday in Winona Lake. IWU won the opener 1-0 and then took the finale 7-1.

Jacob Bloom had a big day at the plate for the Lancers. Bloom was 2-4 in the opener and 2-3 in game two. Nate Wottring was 2-3 at the dish in game two.

Grace honored its senior class of Wottring, Josh Petry, Brad Heintz, Brent Easterday, Reagan Eakins, Derek Zwier and Kyle Knapp Saturday.

The Lancers play at IWU Tuesday.

Wegert, Sterk Lead Grace Track Teams

Marijean Wegert and Randy Sterk turned in winning performances for the Grace track teams Saturday in the Spartan Classic at Manchester College.

Wegert won the 400 (1:00.64) and 800 (2:23.93) events and Sterk was first in the men’s 800 (1:57.16).

Kaitlyn Mikel also had a winning effort with a first-place finish in the hammer throw. Ben Drew qualified for the NCCAA Nationals in the 1,500 with a time of 4:10.18.

Grace will compete in the MCC Championships Friday and Saturday at IWU in Marion.
