A 32-year-old Elkhart man was killed this afternoon after missing a curve on his motorcycle.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the accident that happened at 1:12 p.m. at CR 22, south of CR 28. According to a press release, Billy Joe Johnson was southbound on CR 22 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Johnson’s 2003 Yamaha motorcycle left the road and struck a utility pole. Police say Johnson suffered fatal head injuries.

The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team is investigating.
