Eleanor R. Young bourbonEleanor R. Young, 95, of Bourbon, Indiana, passed away at 4:58 p.m. Dec. 28, 2014, in Wampler’s Senior Home Care Bourbon, Ind.

Eleanor was born June 23, 1919, to Homer and Ella (Lemlar) Woodcock in Nappanee, Ind. She has been a lifelong resident. Eleanor married Marvin E. Young on March 2, 1941; he died July 31, 2009.

Eleanor was a member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Bourbon Homemaker’s Club. She was a graduate of Bourbon High School, a homemaker, a farmer’s wife and worked at Ristance Products in Bremen for 13 years. She also was involved in 4-H as a leader for over 20 years teaching leather craft and glass etching  She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Dennis Lee (Nina) Young and Rex Alan (Judy) Young, all of Bourbon; daughter-in-law: Diane Young, Inman, S.C.; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.

Proceeding in death was her husband: Marvin, son: Kent, granddaughter: Jennifer and a sister: Doris Stackhouse.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, IN 46504. A celebration of Eleanor’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in the funeral Home with Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry, Bourbon First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, Ind.
