James E. Rowe, 89, North Manchester, passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Woodworth, Ohio, to Ernest and Ruth (Garver) Rowe.On June 11, 1949, he married Ruth H. Bendsen. She died May 13, 2012.

He was a mathematics teacher at Manchester High School for 5 years, Illinois State for 10 years and Manchester College for 20 years. He retired in 1988. He was a member of of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.

He is survived by one son: Kenneth J. (Bonnee) Rowe, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters: Karen J. (Randy) Roberts-Sare, North Manchester; Kay J. (David) Shain, Pataskala, Ohio; one brother; John Otis (Wilma) Rowe, Penney Farms, Fla.; one sister: Mary Ellen Brent, Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at the chapel with Pastor Kurt Borgmann and Pastor Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester. McKee Mortuary has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
