Mary MalcomMary Katherine ‘Kate’ Yoder Malcolm, 84, of Nappanee, passed away at 3:45 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Milford. She had been in failing health for 1 year.

Kate was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Nappanee to Harold and Reba (Sechrist) Phillips. Her first marriage was to Delbert Yoder on Jan. 10, 1948. He preceded in death. She married George Malcolm Sept. 17, 1995 in Nappanee.

Mrs. Malcolm retired from Nappanee Wood Products. She was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren, where she served as Deaconess. She was a member of the Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed spending winters in Florida, crafts and playing cards. She was a former member of the Nappanee Order of Eastern Star, Nappanee Lady Lions, and Nappanee Fire Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; daughter: Deborah (Robert) Mitchel, Nappanee; sons: Jack (Beth) Yoder, Goshen; Keith (Susan) Yoder, Wakarusa; stepdaughters: Carla (Stephen) Harris, Warsaw; Tamara (David) Harris, Waynsboro, Va.; stepson: Brad Malcolm, Nappanee; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Hall, Goshen; Patricia (Wayne) Bigler, Goshen; and brother: Harold ‘Hal’ Jr. (Peggy) Phillips, Greenville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Angela Rana Mitchel; sister, Donna Kuhn, and brother, Thomas Phillips.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Funeral Service, Friday, Jan. 2, at the church with Rev. Byrl Shaver will officiate and burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
