Etna Green Fire Department responded yesterday to a report of a fire located in a shed at 8697 West 600 North in Etna Green.
According to Etna Green Fire Chief Eric Waggoner, two generators were housed inside of a small shed (referred to by residents of the property as a motor shed) when one caught on fire. The fire spread to a nearby, empty coop and then melted the side of a garage/storage building. Though siding and a window were cracked from the heat, the fire was put out before it officially spread to the neighboring building.
According to Waggoner, the home is owned by Carl Kuhns, who also provided a statement to StaceyPageOnline.com yesterday as to the believed cause and nature of the fire. Waggoner stated that damages are currently estimated between $2,500 to $5,000 and stated that the fire was put out at approximately 3 p.m.
Before emergency personnel’s arrival on-scene, Atwood Fire Department was called for full-assist and Nappanee Fire Department was called for a tanker, however both departments were disregarded. Multi-Township EMS also responded to the scene. No injuries to humans or animals were reported from the fire.
