Dorothea ‘Dorothy’ M. (Muday) Lesch, 80, of Plymouth, passed away at 7:25 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at home, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Dorothy was born Sept. 12, 1934, in South Chicago, Ill., to Walter and Margaret (Hromada) Muday. On Feb. 11, 1956, she was married to James Lesch, of Plymouth. They were the first couple to be married in the newly built Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, in Culver. Jim passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014.

Dorothy was 11 years old when her family moved to Culver. It was there that she attended West High School, was a cheerleader and met Jim, the love of her life. She worked at the Plymouth Co-op and as a waitress at 3 Sisters Restaurant in Culver. She ran her own small business, in later years, The Country Look, and spent several summers selling her wares at Shipshewana Flea Market. Dorothy and Jim moved back to Chicago, for a short time after their marriage, where Jim worked as a tool and die maker at Ford Motor Company. They moved to Plymouth and made their permanent home there in 1958.

She is survived by her son: Scott (Tiffiny) Lesch, Spring Lake, N.C.; her daughter: Stacey Staley (companion Mark Koch), Coldwater, Mich.; five grandchildren: Riley Reinholt, Warsaw; Alison Lesch, Indianapolis; Meghan Lesch, Fort Wayne; Kyle Lesch, Auburn; Emilee Lesch, Auburn; two step-grandchildren: Ajala and Donovan Baker, Spring Lake; two great-grandchildren; her brother: Tom (Jan) Muday, Saint Joseph, Mich.; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiver: Wendy Shepherd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law: Mary (Carl) Smolinski; her brothers: Rudy Muday, Walter ‘Bud; Muday; and her brother and sister-in-law: James (Janet) Muday.
