WINONA LAKE – The Grace College’s men’s soccer team picked up a local commitment in Zack Tucker from Warsaw Community High School.

Tucker played for soccer powerhouse Warsaw, a program that claimed its sixth consecutive regional championship this fall. He was the team’s leading scorer with 11 goals as a senior, helping lead Warsaw to the semistate round of the state tournament. He was an honorable mention for the All-Northern Lakes Conference Team in 2013.

“Everyone at Grace is very friendly and welcoming to each other. The campus felt comfortable for me, and I like that it’s close to home,” Tucker said. “I’m ready to make an impact on the team, help my teammates become better and help the Lancers win a Crossroads League title.”

Tucker’s Tigers were the 2012 state runners-up during his junior season as he netted eight goals and six assists. The midfielder/forward played club soccer with Fort Wayne United.

“I’m pleased to bring Zack [Tucker] into our program at Grace. I’ve watched Zack play for a long time, and I know he will make an immediate impact in our program,” said Grace head coach Matt Hotchkin. “Zack’s life is an amazing story, and I’m so happy that God has led him to Grace to write this next chapter of his life.”

Tucker, who appeared on Warsaw’s honor roll for three years, plans to study exercise science at Grace.
