James L. Stewart, 83, North Manchester, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Laketon, to Russell and Lucille (Hill) Stewart. He graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, in 1949. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952, serving until 1956. He was stationed in Korea, Japan and Okinawa during his tours of duty where he proudly served his country. On May 3, 1958, he married Barbara J. Coldren in North Manchester.

He was employed with Warner Corporation where he retired in 1991 as General Manager. He was then employed for two years with Montel Livestock Equipment, retiring in 1993.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #286, a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1418, North Manchester, and a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 286, Wabash.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara J. Stewart, North Manchester; one son: Stephen J. (Nancy) Stewart, Marco Island, Fla.; one brother: Robert D. Stewart, North Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one half brother: Louis Stewart of Chicago.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at McKee Moruary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home. Richard Tracy, Pastor Ron Burns and Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemerty, North Manchester.
