Russel T GriffinRussell T. ‘Russ’ Griffin, 74, of Pierceton, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at his home.

He was born on May 12, 1940, in Louisville, Ky., to William C. and Helen C. (Koif) Griffin. He grew up in the Chicago, area, graduated from high school in Chicago, and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on Oct. 27, 1990, in Steger, Ill., to Karen A. (Weber) Wagner who survives.

He retired in 1994 from Prairie Material Services in Chicago, as a concrete truck driver after 24 years and moved to the Pierceton area in 1995 from South Chicago Heights. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.

He is survived by his wife; stepdaughter: Kelly Brown, Watseka, Ill.; stepson: Clinton Wagner, Chicago; four step-grandchildren; a brother: William Griffin, Lyons, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Lois Topefer; Lollie Bonanzio; and two brothers: Richard and David Griffin.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the American Legion, SR 13, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, in the American Legion with Russ Chandler, post chaplain officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Amercian Legion Post 253. Private burial will take place in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion.

Memorial bequest may be given to the United Service Organizations (U.S.O.), 7800 Col. H. Weir Cook Memorial Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Envelopes will be available at the American Legion.
