Science Central Receives Theatre Grant
FORT WAYNE – The Lincoln Financial Foundation has awarded Science Central, the region’s premier gateway for informal science education in Fort Wayne, a $40,000 grant to continue the programs in and operation of the center’s Lincoln Financial Foundation Demonstration Theater.
The theater is the home for Science Central’s internal demonstration programs, providing a setting where school students and visitors of all ages can participate in hands-on science demonstrations and activities.
The Lincoln Foundation has been the primary sponsor for the programs and events conducted in the theater space, and for supplies needed to conduct the daily demonstrations. Lincoln Foundation has funded the purchase of numerous items for the theater, including air pressure equipment; Tornado Gun; video projection equipment, sound system upgrades; and even ingredients needed to make liquid nitrogen ice cream, a favorite Science Central activity. The funding also assists with programming for special events, including Doctors Day and Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown Day.
“The Lincoln Financial Foundation continues to be instrumental in helping provide science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for our community,” said Science Central Executive Director Martin S. Fisher. “Through their funding, Science Central is able to help inspire interest in and show real-world connections to science, and hopefully to even inspire people to pursue careers that involve science, technology, engineering and math.
The demonstrations in the theater are one of the key ways we communicate science concepts with our visitors, and they are a favorite part of everyone’s experience at Science Central. We appreciate everything the Lincoln Financial Foundation does to help inspire and provide science education through their sponsorship.”
