A field of eight teams will compete for four state softball championships Saturday in the IHSAA State Finals.
The list includes top-ranked North Miami in Class 1-A and No. 7 Leo in Class 3-A.
North Miami, behind star junior pitcher Josie Wood, sidelined No. 10 Triton 9-1 last Saturday in a semifinal game of the Clinton Prairie Semistate. The Trojans were making their first-ever appearance in the semi state.
Leo won a pair of games last weekend to claim the title of the Twin Lakes Semistate after edging past host Wawasee 3-2 in a regional game in Syracuse on June 3.
North Miami (30-4) starts play Saturday at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis by facing North Daviess (18-11) at 10:30 a.m. in the Class 1-A state title game.
The Class 2-A final will feature Southmont (23-6) versus South Spencer (26-5) at 1:30 p.m. Leo (26-6) will then face Gibson Southern (29-3) for the Class 3-A state title at 4:30 p.m.
The State Finals finale will be the Class 4-A game pitting Hamilton Southeastern (23-10) against Bloomington South (20-8) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
