Maxine L. KreiderMaxine L. Kreider, 97, of North Manchester, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014 at Peabody Home where she had been a resident for the past three years.

She was born June 3, 1917, in Wabash County, Ind., a daughter of Grovie and Abigail (Bechtold) French. She graduated from Chester High School.

A homemaker, she worked at South Whitley Florist and Bryan Manufacturing in North Manchester.

On Sept. 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Joe D. Kreider. They made their home on a farm near South Whitley until 1983 when they moved to Big Chapman Lake.

Her memberships included Eberhard Lutheran Church and attended North Winona Church of the Brethren.

Surviving relatives include a daughter: Jo Lene Kreider, North Manchester; and two sisters-in-law: Carolyn French, Columbia City, and Dorotha Stewart, Holland, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her husband; two brothers: Kermit French and Robert French; and a sister: Kathleen French.

The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Eberhard Cemetery.
