Fizz, Boom Read is Fun Science for children

Want to do something with children that are visiting? Children have lots of activities on top of reading for library dollars. Any and all are welcome to attend a balloon making, hands-on, inflate-a-thon with the Wheatables at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17. Family Friday Films are at 10 a.m., beginning Friday, June 20, and is a time to “lego” and have a laugh.

Sign-up is required to attend Thursday’s Tea Time with Miss Gisela and also Reading to Echo. Tea Time has space for a room full of children and parents, but space and time are limited with Echo the dog. Echo is a new visitor to the Syracuse Library. A child or family that wishes to read to the registered therapy dog can schedule a 15 minute session during the 2 hours that Echo comes at 2 p.m. on Mondays. Tea Time is looking at the science concept fizz and meets at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 19.

A special science adventure is a bus trip to Science Central. The free trip is available to any children that have completed 5 weeks of reading in the Fizz, Boom, Read Summer Program.

Experience Hypnosis in a Free Group Session

Angie Hernandez, certified hypnotherapist, is offering sample hypnosis in a session she calls, Turn Down a Craving. Hypnosis has helped many people deal with food and beverage cravings. Meet Hernandez at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 17. in the Syracuse Library meeting room.

The Syracuse Fire Department Shares the Chemistry of Fire

Teens meet at the library at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18. The fire department will show different types of fires and how they are put out. Unfortunately, due to state regulations no actual fires will be started. There will be examples of equipment that are used for various types of fires. Any interested people are invited to this program. Information about any programs is available at 574-457-3022.
