Elrod, Dorothy obit photoDorothy Sue (Hackworth) Elrod, 68, of Winona Lake, passed Thursday, Nov. 27, at her residence.

She was born July 9, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Harry and Alice (Helton) Hackworth.

She was married to James Leo Elrod, who passed on March 19, 2011.

She and her husband owned and operated Elrod Daycares for 30 years in Warsaw and Winona Lake. She had been a Kosciusko County resident for 49 years. She was of Baptist faith and loved her family.

She is survived by her two daughters: Michele Elrod, Winona Lake, and Alisha (Charles) Wagner, Warsaw; one son: Derek (Kelli) Elrod, Winona Lake; three grandchildren; one sister: Delphia (Donald) Hicks, Prestonsburg, Ky.; two brothers: Harry (Cindy) Hackworth, Holyoke, Mass., and Charles (Elmina) Hackworth, Prestonsburg, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son, James Christopher Elrod; and three brothers: Rebel, Robie and Lloyd Hackworth.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Repath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. The visitation will be directly followed by the funeral service. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate.

There will also be visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Hwy 80 Jct 122, Martin, Ky. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Hall Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Jack Arnett Cemetery, Prestonburg, Ky.
