Dallas LeRoy Bjella, 75, Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at his home.

He was born on September 2, 1939 in Warsaw, IN to Oscar Alvin & Bonnie Mae (Grisamer) Bjella. Dallas was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1958 from Syracuse High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran and on Sept. 2, 1961, at Selfridge Air Force Base in Harrison, Mich., he married Luanne Frances Meyer who preceded him in death on July 19, 2001.

He retired in 2004 from Dana Corporation in Syracuse after 24 years of service and formerly worked at Liberty Homes & Commodore Corporation in Syracuse for 20 plus years. He formerly attended the Syracuse Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter: Carolyn Carr, Milford; two sons: David (Michelle) Bjella, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ronald Bjella, Milford, seven grand and two great grandchildren; life companion: Bette Rutter, Syracuse; and his twin brother: Dennis (Anita) Bjella, Syracuse.

He was preceded by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at Owen Family Funeral Home. 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1 in the funeral home with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rites by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, American Legion Post 223 & V.F.W. Post 1382 both of Syracuse.
