Elizabeth L. McManama, 94, a former resident of the Larwill and South Whitley communities, died at 10 am Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in The Oaks.

She was born in Washington, Township, Whitley County, a daughter of Gilbert and Bessie Enos Sickafoose. Her formative years were spent on the family and she graduated from the Washington Center High School.

On July 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Keith H. McManama and they spent their married life on a farm in Richland Township. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1976.

McManama was a cook at the Larwill and South Whitley schools for 26 years. She also volunteered for a number of years at the South Whitley Public Library where she was instrumental in updating their genealogical records.

She was a member of the South Whitley United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Larwill United Methodist Church for many years.

Survivors include: three sons, Steve (Faye) McManama, South Whitley, Gary McManama, Hamburg, Germany, Mike (Kathy) McManama, Decatur; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A brother, Phillip Sickafoose preceded her in death.

The funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Smith and Sons Miller Chapel in South Whitley with Rev. Christopher Stahlman officiating. The burial was in the South Whitley Cemetery.
