Leo H. Banter, 96, of Warren, Ind., passed away at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

He was born on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1915, in Jackson Township-Wells County, Ind. He married Helen (Canter) Banter on Saturday, Nov. 5, 1966, in Markleville, Ind. Mr. Banter was a longtime Blackford County farmer and hauled ag-lime and stone in Blackford and surrounding counties. He lived most of his life in Blackford County.  He later enjoyed bicycling.  he formerly attendrd Roll United Methodist Church.

Mr. Banter is survived by two daughters: Darlene (Leon) Rohrer, Claypool, Ind.; Diane (Larry) Meyers, Edgemont, AR; a sister: Lorada Weatherholt, Montpelier, Ind.; a sister: Lillian (Clarence) Murphy, Noblesville, Ind.; a brother: James (Beverly) Banter, Hartford City, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Wesley and Dustin Gearheart, Warsaw, Ind.; Mark and Kevin Meyers, Ferndale, AR; Hayley and Hannah Gearheart, Tamarac, Fla.; and a brother-in-law: Floyd Elliott, Warren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Helen Lucile (Canter) Banter; a son: Leo Freddie Banter; two brothers: Lester and Leon Banter; his first wife: Eileen (Ford) Banter; and a sister: Martha Louise Elliott.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at from 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. n Wednesday, June 13, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St. Montpelier, Ind. A service to celebrate Leo’s life at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.

Preferred memorials: Hospice of Northeast Indiana or donor’s favorite charity.
