Arleen Koors - picsArleen (Dahl) Koors, 90, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home in Warsaw.

She was born June 2, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Paul and Annetta Chapman, (Her biological name: Helen Rose Chapman). In 1928, she was taken into foster care by John and Gordenna Dahl, and her name changed to Arleen Helen Dahl. On Jan. 25, 1952, she married Joseph Anthony Koors who preceded her in death on March 26, 1987. She lived in Kosciusko County since 1951.

She graduated in 1942 from Cood Counsel Academy, Mankato, MN. She served during World War II in the United States Navy Medical Corp. for approximately two years. She worked as a secretary for several local attorneys, and later as a secretary in Civil Service for eight years in the Air Force-Civil Air Patrol Liaison Office in Warsaw. She also worked at Lake City Bank as a Student Loan Officer and Credit card Representative until her retirement in 1975. She then was a partner in Koors Insurance agency until 1986.

She received her private pilot’s license the summer of 1951 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. She was a member of the American Legion Post 49; was a charter and past member of the National Secretaries Association; was a past co-editor for the Bowen Center Newsletter; was a charter and past president of the Elks 802 Auxiliary, and was the first and only woman in Indiana to serve on a Selective Service Board; was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary Altar Society.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Joseph Allan (Korky) and Krista Koors,  Winona Lake, Ind.; stepdaughter: Judith Ann (Dave) Kable, Decatur, Ind.; grandson: John Joseph (Dana) Koors; two great-grandsons: Gaige and Lucas and grandson: Jared Alan Koors all of Warsaw, along with four step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren and sister: Dianne Dahl (Mrs.  John)  Banocy, Derry, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Anthony Koors; a sister, two brothers, and parents: Paul Thaddeus and Anetta Chapman and  John and Gordenna Dahl.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw with Father Phil DeVolder officiating.

Friends and family will gather from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St. Warsaw, Indiana. Rosary service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana with Military Honors by the Warsaw American Legion 49 and V.F.W. Post 1126.
