Herbert J. Myers, 91, of Niles, Mich., formerly of Plymouth, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at his daughter’s home.

Herbert was born on June 8, 1923, in Fulton County, to John and Lillie (Rogers) Myers. Herbert took Louise R. Darkwood, to be his bride, on June 4, 1950. She preceded him in death.

They moved to Plymouth in 1956. He served his county, in the Army, with the 15th Tank Destroyer Camp, during WWII. Herbert was a man of many talents. He did odd jobs for many people around town. He retired from Bomarko in Plymouth, as a security officer. He was a member of the Church of God.

Herbert is survived by his daughter: Becky (Alan) Patterson, Niles; his son: Steve Myers, Grovertown; and his brother: Harold Myers, Mishawaka.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter: Dianne; one sister; and one brother.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home. Rev. Wayne Mikel will officiate. Military honors will be presented at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Paris. Military honors will be presented at the funeral home.
