WARSAW – The Warsaw softball team closed out regular-season play with a pair of losses to a strong South Bend St. Joseph team Saturday.
St. Joe topped the host Tigers 14-3 in five innings in the opener and then posted a 10-6 win in the nightcap.
The Indians scored nine runs in the second inning en route to the win in game one.
Karly Jones and Julia Smith each had a hit and an RBI for Warsaw in the opener.
St. Joe plated four runs in the first inning in the second game.
Kara Dishman, Whitney Sleeth and Kaleigh Speicher each had two hits for the Tigers. Sidney Hernandez drove in a pair of runs.
Warsaw collected a 10-3 win at Tippecanoe Valley on Friday.
Senior Ashley Ousley had a huge game at the plate to lead Warsaw. Ousley had four hits, including a home run and triple, and drove in two runs.
Winning pitcher Whitney Sleeth, who had six strikeouts in the circle, had three hits. Speicher and Sarah Shoemaker each had two hits.
Warsaw, which finishes the regular season at 8-18, will play Concord Monday at 2 p.m. in the Class 4-A Elkhart Central Sectional.
