gene w brownGene W. Brown, 78, of Saint Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6:12 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1936, in Warsaw to Dean L. Brown and Alta Eileen (Clase) Brown. In 1956 he was married in McCordsville, Indiana to Beverly Anne (Sink) Brown, who survives in Warsaw.

He was a resident of Saint Petersburg, Florida and a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for 18 years. Gene was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School, and a member of the Warsaw Tigers Football Team. After graduation he attended Butler University and then Purdue University where he received his bachelor degree in Engineering. He also received his master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Gene was the CEO of Whittar Steel Strip in Detroit, Mich. In later years, after retirement, he enjoyed his family and playing golf.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Scott (Angela) Brown, Okemos, Mich.; three brothers: Densil (Peggy) Brown, Arlington Heights, Ill., Sam (Karen) Brown, Warsaw, and Dail (Pam) Brown, Westerville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lisa.

His funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Tom Hamilton. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

There will be calling prior to the funeral service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home.
