Thomas D. “Tom” Miller, 62, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 2:22 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Avalon Village Healthcare in Ligonier, Ind. He was born on
August 22, 1952 in Elkhart, Ind., to Roy “Doc” & Mary J. (Robinson) Miller, Jr.

He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident, graduated in 1971 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse and attended Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was a United States Army veteran and was married on June 23, 1979 in Kokomo, Ind., to Jill Elaine Snodgrass who preceded him on June 6, 1991. He was formerly employed at Jasper Plastic Solutions in Syracuse for two years and Godfrey Marine in Syracuse for several years.

He formerly attended the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and was a former member of the American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse.

He is survived by: 2 sons: Travis Miller, Syracuse, and Edward (Kacey) Miller of Phoenix, Az.; 2 grandsons: Luke Jack Miller and Travis A. Miller Jr.; a brother: Jon (Mandie) Miller, Leesburg.

He was preceded by his parents, wife and son: Andy Miller.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren in Argos officiating. Military rites will follow the service from the Syracuse American Legion Post 223.
